- CHI 105C: Intermediate Chinese I in BeijingA four-week summer intensive language course conducted on the campus of Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. Using the fluency-through-accuracy approach, students work on developing a strong foundation for the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The material in A New China (C.P. Chou, et al., Princeton University Press) gradually moves from micro daily life scenarios to macro cultural and societal topics and cover issues especially relevant to American students studying in China. Texts provide insight into the Chinese way of life and the intricacies involved in being a resident of China.
- CHI 107C: Intermediate Chinese II in BeijingA four-week summer intensive language course, which is a continuation of CHI 105C, conducted on the campus of Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. This course continues the intensive study of modern spoken and written Chinese and includes the survey of modern cultural and social issues. Admission by application. Prerequisite: CHI 105C or equivalent. The course consists of five two-hour classes and five two-hour drill sessions weekly, plus individual tutorial sessions.
