This course consists of a close reading of Plato's Republic. We will be assessing its contribution to philosophy in the areas of Moral Philosophy, Political Philosophy, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Mathematics, and Aesthetics

This is the third in a 3-part graduate course, which covers problems in the area of practical normativity, including but not limited to: relationship between rationality & conceptions of agency; relationship between rationality & conceptions of being human; Aristotelian, Humean, Kantian, & other historical conceptions of rationality; theoretical vs practical conceptions of rationality; individual vs collective conceptions of rationality; substantive vs structural conceptions of rationality; deliberation under conditions of uncertainty.
