How do we know what we know in Black studies? How does what we know translate into action? How can informed action transform the world? In this course, students will examine the relationship between thought and practice, ways of knowing the world, and ways of remaking it by engaging a range of texts, media, art, and movements that diagnose the present-past while prefiguring a world in which many worlds fit. Students will engage in a semester-long project in the form of a "Collaboratory" that creatively addresses a pressing social problem using course concepts and methods.
