This course explores what implications computer systems have in the real world, whether systems researchers and practitioners have an ethical obligation to consider those implications, as well as what those ethical obligations might be. We discuss readings and other media from in and outside Computer Science that deal with ethics in systems for AI/ML, "Big Data," privacy, security, and anonymity, peer-to-peer systems, cryptocurrencies (and, so-called, "Web 3").
