This course explores empathy, perspective-taking, and other forms of experiencing other minds through a philosophical lens. Insights are drawn from both cognitive psychology and contemporary philosophy. Some of the topics covered include: the nature of empathy; the role of intersubjectivity in fictional narrative art; and the value (if any) of perspective-taking, especially in light of feminist considerations.
