Celluloid Science

From the perspective of the history of science, this seminar examines the history of Celluloid Science. We will explore how material practices and ways of thinking about film and science transformed together over the past 130 years, from the 19th-century origins of film as an experimental tool of visualization and scientific research through to 21st-century cinematic depictions of scientific theories and adventure.
