In this course, you will learn about and experience how Congress represents the diverse interests and perspectives in the United States. You will learn how to think like an elected official by preparing for and participating in a simulation of the US Senate. In the simulation you will engage in the work of representative government: crafting legislation that serves your constituents, participating in committee amending, making speeches on the Senate floor, and strategizing as a member of a political party determined to win the next election. Students play a wide variety of roles in the simulation and decide which issues will be on the agenda.
