This course will introduce students to strategic approaches and tools for countering corruption at the national, regional and global levels. We will review successes, failures, and challenges in reducing corruption, and learn the best international anti-corruption standards and practices. We will focus on effective policies to combat kleptocracy in governments. The course will also cover the following: international standards (OECD/UN/EU); model anti-corruption institutions; best practices to avoid corruption in large infrastructure projects; anti-money laundering measures; transparency and accountability; and institutional integrity systems.
