The Philosophy of Physics: Philosophical Issues about Space and Time

Philosophical issues about space and time - from the early modern period to the present. Some of the issues covered include: substantivalism vs. relationism, incongruent counterparts, spacetime symmetries, apriori knowledge, non-Euclidean geometry, conventionalism, and Einstein's hole argument. Readings are drawn from Descartes, Newton, Leibniz, Berkeley, Kant, Poincaré, Reichenbach, Earman, and Maudlin, among others.
