Topics in Contemporary Architecture and Urbanism: The Bed Project

This design seminar involves the design and fabrication of inflatable audience furniture, with Professor Beatriz Colomina as client and interlocutor. Inspired by Plato's Symposium, the figurality of the individual attendees and overall audience through furniture is emphasized, as well as audience raking, the politics of seating, and potential connectibility of individual furniture pieces. Students accompany their work to an inaugural event in Tokyo, currently planned for autumn 2021.
