This course examines the ways domestic U.S. and international environmental regulatory frameworks adopt, interpret and otherwise accommodate scientific information. The course focuses on several case studies, that provide insights into the science-policy interactions which emerge from managing natural resources and environmental risk along with related socio-political issues. Topics include air pollution; climate change; managing fisheries, and nuclear risk. Students will explore the science underlying these issues as well as current policies and the range of future policy responses.
