Statistical Physics: Principles and Problem Solving (Half Term)

A graduate-level seminar-style course on statistical physics emphasizing problem-solving. Topics to be covered include the laws of thermodynamics and their applications, the ensembles of classical and quantum statistical mechanics, ideal and weakly non-ideal gases, phase transitions, mean field and Landau theory, random walks and elementary transport theory.
