By the numbers: University raises funds for United Way

With the help of a dedicated group of departmental volunteers from across campus and at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), the campus community raised $87,642.30 during the 2024 United Way Campaign. Proceeds support the United Way of Greater Mercer County’s education, financial stability, food insecurity, and health programs.

• Forty-four employees served as campaign volunteers in more than 25 University departments and at PPPL. In addition to organizing fundraising events, volunteers organized supply drives to support United Way of Greater Mercer County programs.
• The campaign raised $77,185 in contributions from faculty, staff and retirees — $64,660 from the main campus, $5,100 from PPPL and $7,425 from retirees.
• The University matched gifts with 15 cents on the dollar for every payroll deduction contribution and 10 cents on the dollar for all other gifts, for a total University contribution of $10,457.30.
• In addition to supporting the United Way of Greater Mercer County’s Community Impact Fund, employees elected to distribute their donation directly to UWGMC programs. Employees helped provide meals to the Strike Out Hunger campaign, supply education kits for local schoolchildren, fund college admission support, and contribute to pre- and post-partum resources for parents.
• All donations will be distributed to United Way programs in Mercer County or employees’ home communities, or to other health and human services agencies that were designated by individual donors.
