Architecture, Technology, and the Environment: Architecture in the World

This discursive seminar examines the cultural and environmental systems and structures that undergird architectural design and work, including fairly broad ordering systems such as infrastructures, ecologies, typologies, law, technologies, site, precedents and design theories, as well as new forces that are on the table now. Students participate in discussions, present case studies and write a final paper to foster a better understanding of architecture's role in relation to contemporary, paradigmatic, shifts in the definitions of and relation between cultures, environments, and ecologies.
