I want to extend thanks and kudos to you and the Facilities trades who have assisted in our Arc 509 courses over the past semesters. The classes would not have been as educational or pertinent without their expertise and assistance. Specifically, I would like to acknowledge the Mason Shop, Roofing & Tin Shop, HVAC, and Carpenter’s Shop. Carmine Fiocca and the crew from the Mason Shop always get us off to a good start in Arc 509, Integrated Building Systems & Construction Methods, with their assistance in the foundation/block/brick module of our classwork. Bob Macfarlan and John Kinney from HVAC have always gone out of their way to help. A favorite segment of our class is the welding/cutting module, and the HVAC welders and their tutorial are a favorite among the students.Their experience and professionalism are evident in their interaction with the students. I can always count on Hans Martini for any last-minute assistance or tool loans to make any of our other construction applications easier. Finally, this semester, we will be utilizing Mike Moran’s Roofing & Tin crew for high lift work. Their extensive knowledge of roofing systems will help us complete our final project at our Embodied Computation Laboratory.
