2023 Facilities Award Winners!

After much deliberation, five Facilities staff members have been named award winners for 2023.

After much deliberation, five Facilities staff members have been named award winners for 2023.

Robin Perkins has won the Vice President’s Award.  

Perkins has worked at Princeton for more than 16 years and is currently a Building Services Manager in Operations. She was nominated for her “relentless dedication which includes a strong sense of support and loyalty to our Facilities department.” In addition to her day-to-day role, Perkins encourages all her colleagues to commit to personal and professional development and is famous for saying, “Don’t give up. Keep trying.” 

The Vice President’s Award recognizes an employee with ten plus years of Facilities service; who embodies the traits of honesty, trustworthiness, and strength of character as they accomplish their work every day. 

Lynn Barbour and Grant Peatman have received the Excellence Award.  

Barbour is part of the office support team in Capital Projects and has been at Princeton for more than 10 years. She was nominated for always having “the good of the department at top of mind and for her willingness to assist in any way to make things run smoother.” Barbour has taken leadership on numerous planning committees, including the Staff Appreciation Cook Out and the OCP holiday gathering. Her nominators called her the “joy” in the office noting that she always finds time to help. 

Peatman has served the University for more than eight years as a Project Manager for Major Maintenance in Operations. He was nominated for the way he “truly demonstrates dedication, quality work and outstanding excellence.” Peatman is extremely organized and works diligently with stakeholders to find solutions that work for all. His nominators came from across Facilities and from campus partners, each reiterating that he is the “best at seeing, hearing, and coming to an understanding to make sure all aspects of a project work.” 

The Excellence Award recognizes employees with three plus years of Facilities service; who demonstrate dedication, commitment to quality work, and outstanding excellence. 

Patricia Devine and Karen Fanning are recognized with the Core Values Award. 

Devine is the Sustainability Architectural Engineer in Capital Projects and has been with the University for 16 years. She was nominated for her “extensive institutional knowledge and for her remarkable ability to manage a demanding schedule while being incredibly supportive and guiding to others.” Devine brings a meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding to all her work. She fosters a learning environment within her team and “inspires trust and respect.” 

Fanning has been with Facilities for more than two years as the Project Communication Manager in the Office of the Vice President. She was nominated for her “dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence.” Fanning brings a unique blend of construction, interpersonal, and communication skills to her role and taps them all to find solutions that work for those impacted by our work on campus. Her nominators came from across Facilities and from campus partners, with one stating, “I am not exactly sure how we managed communication about campus construction projects before Karen arrived at Princeton.” 

The Core Values Award recognizes employees who embody our Core Values on a day-to-day basis. Nominees for this award will have at least one year of work with Facilities and reliably demonstrate our Core Values.
